CMS Portugal and its partner in Angola, CMS LBR, held an event yesterday in Luanda dedicated to the theme: “Infrastructure in Angola: Opportunities and Challenges", which was welcomed by Alberto Galhardo Simões, Partner, CMS Portugal, and Luís Borba Rodrigues, Partner and Managing Partner of CMS LBR.
At a time when Angola has been strengthening its commitment to infrastructure as an engine of economic growth, the event aimed to identify and discuss the opportunities and challenges facing the sector. It was opened by His Excellency, the Secretary of State for Civil Aviation, Maritime and Port Affairs, Dr Rui Carreira.
The first round table, moderated by CMS Portugal Partner Nuno Alves Mansilha, aimed to discuss the topic ‘Opportunities in the Infrastructure Sector’ and was attended by: Cátia Fernandes, Legal and Compliance Director at AGL – Africa Global Logistics; Eugénio de Lima Fernandes, Director of the National Directorate for the Economy of Concessions; Júlio Oliveira, Director of Infrastructure at Gemcorp Capital; Mário Pires, Development Consultant; and Pedro Pinto Ferreira, CEO, Domínio Capital Group.
The second-round table, moderated by Alberto Galhardo Simões - Partner of the Lusophone Africa Team at CMS Portugal, discussed the topic of ‘PPPs - Structuring, Challenges, Risks and Financing Models’. This panel included Horácio Chiquemba, Head of Finance & Investments at Gemcorp Angola; Nuno Gil, Founding Partner at Eaglestone; Rúben Palminha, Director of Structuring & Advisory at Hemera Capital Partners; Eunice Mabika, Investment Officer at IFC – International Finance Corporation; and Egunilson Silva, Project Director at Sun Africa.
The event was closed by CMS LBR Partner Silvino Domingo.
