José de Matos Correia, specialized in Constitutional Law, clarifies, on “Jornal da Noite – TVI”, that the right to freedom is a fundamental right expressed in the Portuguese Constitution. As such, citizens who do not appear to have symptoms of the coronavirus cannot be forced to remain in isolation during the incubation period.

According to José de Matos Correia, “what would be here at issue is to compel people who have no proven disease… to be prevented from exercising the right to freedom during this period… if I am confined, against my will, this right is called into question and the constitution does not allow it”.

"Our Constitution is clear, restrictions on fundamental rights only if authorized by itself ...", reinforces the lawyer specialized in Constitutional Law.
