João Paulo Gomes is a Partner in the Employment, Labour & Pensions team and the head of the Madeira office.

With over 15 years of experience, he provides labour advice to multinational companies, as well as local companies established in Madeira (within and outside the Madeira Free Trade Zone), notably in the hospitality, industry, construction, and aviation sectors.

He has extensive experience assisting employers with employment restructurings, incorporation of companies, employment contracts, and arbitrations, as well as conducting a wide range of labour, civil and public litigation.

He also provides corporate and real estate advice to companies based in the International Business Centre of Madeira, focusing mainly on foreign multinationals investing in this financial center.

João Paulo is acknowledged as a Next Generation Partner for Employment by Legal 500, 2025 and ranked Excellent for Labour & Employment by Leaders League, 2026. He is also recognised for Labour and Employment, by Best Lawyers,2025.
