CMS Hong Kong launches its International Law Lecture Series with the HKIAC and the Hong Kong University.

The first lecture is dedicated to China's One Belt One Road initiative. It will be delivered jointly by Ms Sarah Jane Grimmer and Professor Chin Leng Lim. Dr Nicolas Wiegand, the Managing Partner of CMS Hong Kong, and Olga Boltenko, a counsel in the Hong Kong office of CMS, will deliver the introductory remarks.

Attendance is free of charge but is reserved on a first-come-first-served basis. Seats are limited. Early registration is encouraged. The lecture will be followed by refreshments and light snacks.

Speaker

Ms Sarah Jane Grimmer
Ms Grimmer is the Secretary General of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC). Prior to joining the HKIACin September this year, she was the longest-serving senior legal counsel at the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague. She has acted as registrar in three inter-State arbitrations and has served as tribunal secretary in a variety of investor-State and contract-based matters. Ms. Grimmer is a graduate of Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand and the University of Cambridge.

Professor Chin Leng Lim
Chin Leng Lim is Professor of Law, a member of Court and of the Senate of the University of Hong Kong. He practices as a barrister with chambers at Keating Chambers, London and presently serves on Hong Kong's Committee on Pacific Economic Cooperation, a Trade and Industry Department body tasked to advise the Commerce Secretary. He is a Visiting Professor at King’s College London and was recently the Lionel A. Sheridan Visiting Professor at the National University of Singapore. He began his early career as an academic lawyer in the UK, then as a Geneva UN lawyer dealing with Gulf War reparations before serving on the Singapore Attorney General's staff as counsel on treaty law matters. His recent books, published by Cambridge, include Alternative Visions of the International Law on Foreign Investment (2016), and The Trans-Pacific Partnership (2012) (with Elms and Low).
