CMS advises API International on financing round for car digitalisation specialist Twinner

Leipzig – IBG Risikokapitalfonds III, a venture capital fund managed by bmp Ventures AG, and several business angels have invested an eight-figure amount in car digitalisation specialist Twinner.com (Twinner GmbH). The investment will be used to accelerate the firm’s global market expansion. Details of the investment were not disclosed.

An international CMS team headed by lead partner Dr Jörg Lips and Senior Associate Dr Christoph Löffler advised majority shareholder API International AG on all legal aspects of the round of financing for Twinner GmbH and the associated restructuring measures. The CMS offices in Budapest and Paris were also involved in connection with incorporating a Hungarian and a French subsidiary owned by the majority shareholder into the company. API International AG and Twinner GmbH are longstanding CMS clients and regularly rely on the law firm’s expertise. A team consisting of Dr Robert Budde, Dr Hans-Clemens Köhne and Phillip Bubinger is advising API International AG, including Twinner GmbH, on an international alliance for worldwide distribution of the Twinner, among other activities. The Twinner is an innovative “car scanner” that can be used to create “digital twins” of vehicles and offer a range of related services.

Twinner GmbH has 150 employees and is based in Halle (Saale). It is a subsidiary of API International AG and a digital car marketer. The company has set itself the goal of mapping vehicles digitally and enabling customers to take a virtual tour. Digital twins of cars are generated on the basis of sensor technologies and insights from AI research.

The Magdeburg-based IBG funds are the venture capital funds of the Federal State of Saxony-Anhalt. The funds provide equity capital to innovative companies with sustainable and above-average growth potential.
