Hamburg – Asset manager Luxcara has acquired the Önusberget wind farm project, which is part of the Markbygden 1101 cluster, from the developer Svevind AB. The Önusberget wind farm in northern Sweden has a planned total installed capacity of up to 750 MW, making it one of the largest single-site onshore wind farms in Europe. It is scheduled to become operational in 2021. Construction work is expected to begin this year. German-Swedish company Svevind AB develops, sells and operates onshore wind power projects and will continue to support implementation of the project until grid connection in 2021. The parties agreed not to disclose the transaction value.
A CMS team headed by lead partner Dr Holger Kraft again advised Luxcara on all legal aspects of the acquisition. The wind farm project will be added to the portfolio of a renewable energy fund for institutional investors which is advised by Luxcara. CMS has been advising Luxcara on renewable energy projects throughout Europe for several years, most recently on the acquisition and negotiation of the project agreements for the Eikeland-Steinsland onshore wind farm in Norway with a planned output of 155.4 MW and the Välikangas onshore wind farm in Finland with 100 MW.
Luxcara is an independent asset manager that provides institutional investors with investment opportunities in the renewable energy and infrastructure space. The owner-managed company was founded in 2009. Luxcara acquires, structures, finances and operates renewable energy investments and infrastructure projects as a long-term investor, focusing on direct power purchase agreements. Luxcara’s portfolio includes solar and wind power plants in Europe with a total output of more than two gigawatts and the company has assets under management in excess of EUR 2.5 billion.
