Munich – Germany’s oldest privately-owned dairy, Milchwerk Jäger GmbH, is merging with Austrian firm Gmundner Molkerei eGen to create a joint dairy business. The two companies have been working together in cheese production for a number of years and are now seeking to further strengthen the alliance. The new joint dairy aims to make more effective use of strategic competitive advantages along the entire value chain, as well as leveraging synergies. With around 800 employees, the new joint venture will process more than 800 million litres of raw milk a year. Details of the transaction were not disclosed. The transaction is currently awaiting approval from the Austrian competition authorities and is also subject to other conditions.
A CMS team headed by Richard Mitterhuber and Dr Thomas Mühl as co-lead and legal project manager advised Milchwerk Jäger GmbH on all legal aspects of this cross-border transaction.
