Leipzig – Frankfurt-based private equity firm VR Equitypartner (VREP) has sold its stake in Goldeck Süßwaren GmbH, a long-established manufacturer of chocolate specialities headquartered in Leipzig, to Wachstumsfonds Mittelstand Sachsen. VREP, which is one of the leading equity investors in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, supported the transaction by providing mezzanine financing as part of the acquisition financing. It thus remains involved in the company. VREP originally took an equity interest in 2011 in the context of an owner buy-out. The existing co-shareholders will also continue to hold shares in the company. Details of the transaction were not disclosed.
Goldeck is best known for its Zetti brand, with Zetti Knusperflocke and Zetti Bambina being the most famous products. The company employs more than 100 people and has its own production facility at its Zeitz location.
A CMS team headed by partners Dr Jörg Lips and Jesko Nobiling and led by senior associates Stefanie Pech and Dr Kevin Schmidt advised the confectionery manufacturer’s shareholders on all legal aspects of the transaction. The multi-location team regularly advises companies, shareholders and investors on private equity stakes and buy-outs.
