Berlin – JUVE, the industry magazine for commercial lawyers, has recognised CMS Hasche Sigle with three Law Firm of the Year awards. The firm received the coveted trophies for Law Firm of the Year for Media, Law Firm of the Year for Succession, Assets and Foundations, and Law Firm of the Year – Northern Region at the 2011 awards ceremony on 27 October in Frankfurt. The prize winners are chosen on the basis of extensive research carried out for the annual JUVE Handbook.
A delighted Dr Hubertus Kolster, managing partner of CMS Hasche Sigle, said: “This is a reward for our hard work and major recognition for the practice areas. It is also gratifying to know that our endeavours to provide the best possible advice to our clients based on their specific needs have paid off. The awards are thus both confirmation and motivation for the whole firm.”
The JUVE jury selected CMS Hasche Sigle for the “Law Firm of the Year for Media” award because “no other firm was as quick off the mark in the field of media digitisation.” CMS Hasche Sigle’s media practice “has excelled with its strategic advice in numerous landmark cases surrounding the future of the industry” and is “indelibly associated” with media digitisation.
CMS partners Prof. Winfried Bullinger and Dr Pietro Graf Fringuelli, coordinators of the Technology, Media & Telecom practice, also see the award as recognition of their work: “In a constantly changing media market, deep, up-to-date industry and market knowledge is crucial to providing successful advice. Our decision to focus strongly on electronic media and opinion leadership in copyright issues right from the start was clearly the right one. The award has confirmed our leading position in this area of law for the second time since 2006, further motivating us to maintain our high level of performance.”
According to the jury, CMS Hasche Sigle received the Law Firm of the Year for Succession, Assets and Foundations and Law Firm of the Year for Northern Region awards principally due to the “strong development of its practices”.
Hans Christian Blum, partner at CMS Hasche Sigle and coordinator of the Succession & Assets practice area, was delighted with the award: “The foundation of our work is our cross-border expertise in providing advice on comprehensive, strategic succession planning for companies and private assets. This prize is a further incentive to continue improving the high quality of our advice.”
Dr Christian von Lenthe, who heads the firm’s Hamburg office as managing partner, added: “The award validates our policy of focusing on specialist areas and sectors. Our success is built on the interdisciplinary, international outlook of our Hamburg team, which will be spurred on to greater success as a result of this recognition.”
These three JUVE awards come on top of CMS Hasche Sigle's achievements in previous years. Since the awards were first introduced, the JUVE Directory has conferred prizes on the firm on 21 occasions: Law Firm of the Year for Real Estate Law and Distribution Systems (2010), Law Firm of the Year – Southern Region (2008), Law Firm of the Year for Sport, Insurance Law, Procurement Law and Information Technology (2007), Law Firm of the Year for M&A, Media and Distribution Systems (2006), Law Firm of the Year for Promotion of Young Lawyers and Employment Law (2005), Law Firm of the Year for Energy, Employment Law and Dispute Resolution (2003), and Law Firm of the Year for Private Equity and Telecommunications plus Management Team of the Year (2002).
