Stuttgart – DEKRA, the world's largest non-listed testing and certification company, has founded the joint venture “CertifAI” together with the auditing and consulting firm PwC Germany and the Innovation Fund of the City of Hamburg. The company is to accompany, test and certify artificial intelligence products from development to final product maturity. The relevant competition authorities have now cleared to the joint venture.
CMS lawyers Dr Rolf Hempel and Peter Giese advised DEKRA on merger control law during the foundation of the joint venture and notified the joint venture to the German Federal Cartel Office. They also coordinated the notifications in Austria and Poland, in close cooperation with the local CMS law firms.
The global AI market is considered to have enormous growth potential. By 2028, the potential is expected to increase tenfold to a total volume of 150 billion US dollars. A gap in the market is emerging from this development, which is primarily focusing on the need for security in AI technology. CertifAI aims to close this gap by helping companies comply with standards and regulatory requirements for AI-based products.
