Ole Jani advises and represents clients in national and international disputes before state courts. Ole Jani is a very experienced copyright litigator and he has represented parties in leading German copyright cases. And he has a special experience with litigation in connection with digital business models as well as proceedings before the Arbitration Board under the Collecting Societies Act (Verwertungsgesellschaftengesetz) and disputes under competition law. Ole Jani also has a substantial track record in legal tech based mass proceedings. He is a member of the CMS "Smart Litigation" unit.
Ole supports clients at the interface between copyright law, politics and business to help shape legislation. As a former policy adviser in the German parliament, he has outstanding experience with both the EU and national legislative procedures.
Ole is a prolific author on copyright matters; inter alia, Ole co-authored Wandt-ke/Bullinger Praxiskommentar zum Urheberrecht (6th edition 2022), Raue/Hegemann Münchener Anwaltshandbuch Urheber- und Medienrecht (3rd edition 2023) and Moser/Scheuermann/Drücke Handbuch der Musikwirtschaft (7th edition 2018).
Ole joined CMS in 2007 and was made partner in 2014. Ole is listed as an expert in his field and as a frequently recommended lawyer in leading law firm rankings.
