Charitable Giving

We work with a range of charities in creating holistic partnerships that go beyond fundraising to include volunteering, in-kind and pro bono support. We also support the firm’s corporate foundation and assist our staff with their individual charitable giving through our Give As You Earn scheme and provide matched funding for personal fundraising initiatives in aid of their chosen charity.

Médecins Sans Frontières – our global charity partner

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), also known as Doctors Without Borders, provide emergency medical relief in areas fraught by crisis, war or natural catastrophe. The international organisation helps people quickly, effectively and unbureaucratically, irrespective of their race, religion or political orientation. MSF became the CMS Global Charity Partner in May 2020.

Supporting local charities

UK

Our Sheffield office’s local charity partner is Support Dogs – a charity dedicated to increasing the independence and quality of life of adults and children with various medical conditions, including autism, epilepsy and other disabilities. They do this by providing trained assistance dogs to those in need.

Our Bristol office’s charity partner is Caring in Bristol which deliver projects around homelessness that engage an amazing community of volunteers, bringing people together to make change happen.

Our Manchester office’s local charity partner is the Child Brain Injury Trust. CBIT provides emotional and practical support, information and learning opportunities for families and professionals affected by childhood acquired brain injury.

Our Liverpool office’s local charity partner is The Bosco Society - a charity that provides supported accommodation to promote independent living in Merseyside.

Sofia

CMS Sofia has been a long-term partner in the Cedar Foundation’s mission to achieve positive social change for disadvantaged children and young adults in Bulgaria. In addition to holding regular fundraising initiatives such as bake sales, pub quizzes and taking part in the annual Cedar Ball, CMS staff have previously volunteered at one of the charity’s group homes where they spent time with the children and young adults the charity supports.

Singapore

CMS Singapore supports a range of local charities. Over the Christmas season staff held a charity auction and raffle raised funds for Dis.Is.Able, an organisation in Singapore that supports people with disabilities in sports. They also regularly fundraise for CMS’ global charity partner through the monthly “Monday Munch” – one Monday of each month when the office holds a bake sale to raise funds for Room to Read.

Beijing

CMS Beijing delivers “Little Box of Happiness” boxes to local charities annually to celebrate Chinese New Year. This year, 88 boxes filled with toys and other gifts were donated to a local children’s charity called Beautiful Mother Hearing Recovery Centre. The centre provides home and care services for children aged 2-8 years old with hearing defects, often supporting them through surgery and recovery training.

In addition, following an overwhelming response from clients, contacts and colleagues, the team was also able to fund a Chinese New Year lunch for the carers at the local charity supported last year as part of the Little Box of Happiness 2018 initiative, Dew Drops - a charity providing support to orphans with complex medical conditions.

Prague

CMS Prague’s local charity partner is Dobry Anděl (Good Angel), a charity supporting families of people with serious illnesses. To raise money for Dobry Anděl and Room to Read, the office runs Christmas jumper days, raffles and also a dress down day on Fridays where staff can opt to wear casual dress by making a donation into one of the office’s two “charity piggy banks” called William Shakespig and Cupig! CMS Prague also supports a range of other charities and community organisations by taking part in sport events such as the JLL Czech Real Estate Charity Beach Volleyball Tournament and the Vienna City Marathon to help raise funds for local charities.

Budapest

CMS Budapest regularly holds fundraisers in support of a number of local charities and causes. The festive period was of particular note, when the office focused their fundraising efforts on their charity Christmas Market and Bake Sale event, participated in “good-to-give” wrapping events, selecting and wrapping clothes and durable food items for families living under difficult circumstances, sponsored and fulfilled the “wishes” of 25 children with cancer in a local hospital and donated Christmas trees to Seedling Trust, a charity aiming to make the lives of children and young people living in social care homes easier and happier.

Dubai

CMS Dubai supports a range of charities, including participating in the annual Law Rocks Dubai concert. A percentage of the proceeds from the ticket sales are given in support of the Al Jalila Foundation, a global philanthropic organisation dedicated to transforming lives through medical education and research. A team also represented CMS in the Dubai Bloomberg Square Mile Relay in the Dubai International Financial Centre, finishing 15 out of 105 teams. The annual event brings together Dubai’s biggest businesses to raise money for local charities every year. This year’s event supported Emirates Red Crescent, an affiliate of the International Federation of Red Cross.

Spotlight on CEE

28 runners from across our offices in Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia and Ukraine joined our colleagues from CMS Austria to take part in the 2019 Vienna Marathon. This exciting experience has become an annual tradition for many of our CEE offices and is now our flagship CR event for the region, triggering many charity initiatives across participating offices, such as bake sales, BBQs and other events in support of charitable causes. All funds raised from our teams’ participation in the Marathon go to support various local initiatives.

CMS Cameron McKenna Foundation

The CMS Cameron McKenna Foundation is a grant-making charity supporting charitable purposes in our communities across the world. Every year, staff can nominate charities to be considered for the Foundation’s grant programme.
