CMS are delighted to invite you to the next instalment of our Life Sciences & Healthcare update webinar, where experts from across the firm will discuss key industry topics impacting, innovating and disrupting the sector.

In this webinar we will focus on the new Unified Patents Court (UPC) and the Unitary Patent (UP). Understanding this new system and the strategies that may be deployed will be critical to clients operating in the sector. Speakers from our IP team will be discussing the following topics:

  • What the new system will look like – including participating countries and locations of the relevant new courts.
  • The quirks of the new system that may push a patent holder either in or out of the system.
  • The potential for long arm jurisdiction of the UPC court – will the UPC bind countries outside of the new system such as the UK?
  • The practicalities & requirements for effecting an opt out – what are the requirements for proprietors/licensees?
