The equIP Collective | Glasgow to Global: Expanding into International Markets

Expanding into international markets is a major milestone for any scaling business. This event, delivered by CMS as part of Glasgow Tech Week 2026, will focus on the legal, commercial and operational issues that businesses face when moving into a new market.

Through guided discussion, Jack Letson, Joy Calder and Sarah Judge will explore the challenges that businesses should be aware of when expanding internationally including: 

• How do you navigate different laws and regulations in different countries (including new AI regulations)?
• How do you ensure that the intellectual property in your brand, products and services is protected? 
• Do you need to incorporate a new company in each country?
• How do you manage employee and HR issues when you have employees in different countries?

We will then host a Q&A session where you can ask our panel of experts any questions you may have.

Guests will be welcomed with complimentary pastries and refreshments, providing an excellent opportunity to network and connect with fellow businesses and members of the wider start-up ecosystem before the discussion gets underway.

Following the panel and Q&A, we will hear from Maurizio Sciglio in our Fireside Chat session. Maurizio is Co-Founder and CEO of Roomr, an early-stage AI startup, and previously the Co-founder of Cloudgine, the Scottish cloud computing company acquired by Epic Games in 2017. He will share reflections from Cloudgine's growth journey, insights from working within one of the world's leading technology companies, and his perspective on building a startup with global ambitions in today's market. He will also discuss some of the practical considerations, opportunities and challenges founders face when planning international expansion from day one.

The event will combine legal insight with practical experiences from businesses who have successfully navigated international growth.
