HMT/PRA: Ringfencing
Further to HMT’s review of the ringfencing regime, it is now consulting on technical details of implementing the aspects of the package that will be delivered via secondary legislation. These relate to the new growth allowances which will expand the range of products ringfenced bodies are permitted to offer, and expand the range of counterparties they are permitted to have exposures to and the management of pension schemes. Alongside this consultation, PRA is consulting on changes to the continuity of provision of services rules. Responses to HMT’s consultation are required by 8 September 2026 and responses to PRA’s consultation are required by 14 October 2026.
HMT: Modernising payment services regulation
HMT is consulting on its approach to modernising payment services regulation and seeks views on how regulation needs to adapt to support innovation whilst ensuring strong consumer protection. Responses are required by 6 October 2026.
