Further to my blog of 9th February 2012 I am delighted to announce that the Review Editionshort article of the new CIOB Complex Projects Contract has been published on the CIOB website. The Review Edition comprises the draft Conditions and Appendices and a PDF copy can be obtained by making a request on the CIOB website. I have also written a with Keith Pickavance (another of the authors) about the new contract which is being published in Building Magazine. The CIOB would like to receive feedback from as many different parts of the construction industry as possible and the deadline for submitting comments and criticism is Monday, 30th July 2012. It has been a very difficult but rewarding process being involved in drafting the new contract and the whole Construction Team here at Olswang has contributed in different ways, for which support I am very grateful. With every new contract there is bound to be criticism and some difficult decisions on points of principle have had to be made. The important thing is that the CIOB receives plenty of comment and criticism so that the authors can ensure that any errors and omissions are addressed and that where we have been controversial we have explained our reasons sufficiently. I encourage readers to visit the CIOB website, peruse the Review Edition and provide their feedback to the CIOB.
Olswang will host a seminar in Autumn 2012 to discuss the new contract, once finalised, and Constructive will have further details of this in due course.
