02 Feb 2023 United Kingdom 2 min read

International law firm CMS has advised leading restaurant brand Mowgli on its sale to TriSpan, a global Private Equity firm with extensive restaurant expertise.

Created in 2014 by former Barrister Nisha Katona, MBE, Mowgli has grown to become a highly successful group of 15 restaurants across the UK. Mowgli offers fresh, healthy, and packed with flavour Indian food in a “home from home” environment. With its new partnership with Trispan, Mowgli intends to continue its expansion, with three new restaurants already confirmed to open this year in Brighton, Bristol, and Edinburgh.

CMS Partner and Head of Leisure David Roberts commented: “Mowgli is a great business, built on sound sustainable principles. Its focus on its people and products has helped the brand build a truly unique proposition, and it is led by one of Britain’s leading female entrepreneurs who proves once and for all that there is indeed life after law. It has been a real pleasure to work with Nisha on the next stage of Mowgli’s growth.”

Nisha Katona, MBE commented: “David and his team have built a sterling reputation in the market and came highly recommended by many industry insiders. Appointing them felt like an obvious decision, and we are very grateful for their amazing work and unfailing support throughout this process.”

The multidisciplinary CMS team was led by David Roberts, with support from Nick Crosbie, Stephen Kilshaw, Lukas Vician (lead associate), Maria Doran and Kate Ford (Corporate); Mark Joscelyne (Tax); Melanie Lane and Edward Holmes (Employment); Tom Hughes, Ryan Farrell and Paula Hryckowiak (Banking); Sarah McMaster and Imogen Rohrs (Share Schemes); Russell Hoare (Media) and Alistair Hill (Pensions).
