CMS appoints new partner to Insurance & Reinsurance Group

3 February 2023

International law firm CMS is pleased to announce the appointment of Anna Walsh as a partner in the firm’s Insurance and Reinsurance practice in London. The Group specialises in insurance and reinsurance, acting for many major insurers and insureds across a wide range of industries, advising on both contentious and non-contentious matters.

Anna has extensive experience of working for medical malpractice insurers and supporting private health and social care providers in claims, inquests, other formal investigations and advising on policy coverage and indemnity arrangements where there are multiple parties involved in the delivery of healthcare services. Anna has also been a NHS Resolution Partner, defending NHS Trusts and GPs in clinical negligence claims of the highest complexity and value and some novel in nature. Her expertise will bolster the existing Insurance & Reinsurance team and expand the firm’s offering to insurers and private health and social care providers.

Ed Foss, Head of the Insurance and Reinsurance Group at CMS said: “We’re delighted to welcome Anna to the team. There is continuing growth in the private health and social care sector with opportunities for both providers and insurers, and Anna’s knowledge and experience will help our current and future clients navigate those opportunities and ensure they have the specialist expertise required to deal with any disputes and challenges they could face.”

Added Anna: “I am delighted to have joined CMS and I am really looking forward to working with Ed and the wider CMS insurance team to support medical malpractice insurers and private health and social care providers. As a full-service firm, the breadth of expertise across CMS’ practitioners, together with my experience within both the NHS and private sectors, will enable us to support these clients through any legal challenge they may face, with a focus on resolving disputes at an early stage and proactively advising on potential future risks as well as commercial opportunities.”
