CMS joins the Green Finance Institute’s Coalition for the Energy Efficiency of Buildings

12 December 2019

CMS is pleased to announce its role as a founding member of the Green Finance Institute’s (GFI) Coalition for the Energy Efficiency of Buildings (CEEB).

The CEEB is the first coalition to bring together private, public and third-sector organisations to create a market for financing net-zero carbon and climate-resilient residential buildings. Members of the coalition include global experts from legal and financial services, local and national government, energy and contribution industries, as well as academia and civil society.

The Coalition’s goal is to accelerate investment in the retrofit of existing residential building by identifying the barriers to retrofit investment and applying these findings to design, develop and launch a portfolio of scalable ‘demonstrators’ of new financial solutions for this sector.

Cheryl Gurnham, Real Estate Partner at CMS, comments: “CMS are delighted to be a part of the Coalition for Energy Efficiency of Buildings. The Coalition aligns with our own commitment to the UN SDGs and our belief that the real estate sector has an important role to play in combatting climate change. The GFI has provided a valuable platform for the industry to collaborate on practical and effective solutions.”

The outcomes and recommendations of the CEEB’s market review will be published in Spring 2020, while the portfolio of pilot ‘demonstrator’ projects will be presented at the 2020 UN Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC COP26) in Glasgow, in December.
