CMS launches educational resource #CMSBuildingBetterFutures Hub to support young people

11 June 2020

International law firm CMS is pleased to announce the launch of #CMSBuildingBetterFutures Hub, a resource aimed at supporting young people in secondary school education in light of challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

#CMSBuildingBetterFutures Hub, believed to be the first-of-its-kind in the UK legal sector, provides insights into CMS, the workings of the legal industry, and some of the many different roles that make up a commercial law firm. It contains resources to help young people develop the key skills required for further education and the world of work.

CMS is committed to creating sustainable and rewarding futures for its clients, people and communities. Underpinning the firm’s approach to Corporate Responsibility (CR) is a commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and part of this involves focusing on education and social mobility, supporting young people across the UK. The firm strives to combine the expertise, talent and passion of its people to deliver industry leading education initiatives that not only inspires the next generation of professionals but also equips them with the knowledge, skills and expertise to succeed.

Penelope Warne, The Senior Partner of CMS UK, comments:

“CMS is committed to building better futures for all. Engaging with young people and supporting students by providing access to quality educational programmes has always been a core part of this work. We believe the creation of #CMSBuildingBetterFutures Hub will make a real difference in delivering rewarding and sustainable futures.”

Emily Catterwell, Senior CR Manager, CMS UK, says:

“The COVID-19 pandemic is creating significant challenges and is having a detrimental effect on young people across all of our local communities. As a firm, our face-to-face interaction with young people has been paused. Many are unable to access information and insight into the world of work as well as employability skills training that is offered by employers year-round. We hope our #CMSBuildingBetterFutures Hub will be a welcome form of support for young people during these rather strange times and beyond.”

Covering a range of topics including legal industry insight, exploration of different job roles within the sector, and key employability skills, the resources on #CMSBuildingBetterFutures Hub will be accessible to young people all over the UK and will be added to on a regular basis.
