CMS’ Diversity & Inclusion Partner and Head of International Capital Markets, Daniel Winterfeldt, has been named in the Financial Times’ OUTstanding in Business ‘Top 100 LGBT Executives’ list. The report recognises executives from across the corporate world who are inspirational role models, championing diversity in the workplace. Other executives in the list come from organisations such as HSBC, IBM, BP and Goldman Sachs.
Daniel was identified by the judges for his active role within CMS, supporting the firm’s LGBT network including implementing support structures that involve protection against bullying and harassment. Daniel established the InterLaw Diversity Forum, the leading LGBT legal group in the UK, which has grown to over 1500 members from over 70 Law firms and 40 corporates and financial institutions since 2008. Recent innovative projects spearheaded by Daniel, and supported by CMS, include Purple Reign (a photography exhibition celebrating LGBT and straight ally role models in their professional environment) and the Apollo Project with the FT (focusing on creating meritocratic workplaces). Daniel is also a patron of the Albert Kennedy Trust and collaborates with many LGBT charities including Stonewall, Switchboard LGBT+, EJAF and the THT.
Daniel comments: “It is an honour to be included on a list with so many talented LGBT leaders in the business community. Not only are all of these executives great at what they do, but they also take the time to work for equality in the workplace for all.”
OUTstanding in Business is the first professional network for LGBT executives and has been widely supported by the businesses community and celebrities. Individuals were judged according to four criteria: 1) activities undertaken to make the workplace a more welcoming place; 2) activities a nominee is involved with outside of the workplace that help to achieve positive change for LGBT people; 3) recent business achievements; and 4) seniority and influence in the business.
