Alex Deacon-Viney is an Associate (Chartered Trade Mark Attorney) in the Contentious IP department, joining the London office CMS in October 2021. Alex advises on a variety of contentious and non-contentious IP matters, including trade marks, designs and copyright. Alex has extensive experience managing large global trade mark portfolios, particularly for consumer goods brands, and assists in all aspects of trade mark work for a variety of clients, including trade mark clearance and filing, watching, oppositions and enforcement. 

Before joining CMS, Alex spent significant time on secondment at a big four supermarket in their IP and Marketing legal team, gaining valuable experience and insight into the needs and priorities of a FTSE 100 business, and how their advisors can add real value to the business.
