Alex is an Associate in our Infrastructure, Construction and Energy Disputes team based in Aberdeen. Alex’s primarily provides dispute resolution advice to clients operating in the energy sector in the UK and internationally.

Alex has experience assisting clients with dispute avoidance and alternative dispute resolution methods, such as mediation, expert determination and arbitration in a wide variety of commercial disputes, including advising on court proceedings in the Scottish Courts (Sheriff Court and Court of Session).

Relevant experience

Part of a team supporting Equinor as an interested party in relation to judicial review proceedings raised in the Court of Session (Scotland) by environmental campaigners in respect of the Rosebank development.
An international energy sector contractor on a dispute involving claimed breaches contractual exclusivity arrangements. This involved assisting with and advising the client on their contractual position, as well as dispute resolution strategy.
A multi-national oil & gas operator on various issues arising under a transportation and processing agreement, including options for resolving related disputes via expert determination.
In relation to the OSPAR Commission, and the status of OSPAR decisions and agreements in UK law.
An international oil and gas company in relation to the interaction between decommissioning security arrangements and the decommissioning relief deed in cases of joint venture partner insolvency.
An industry trade association with resolving a dispute involving both financial and intellectual property claims via mediation.
An oil and gas company on limitation under the Limitation Act 1980 and contractual limitation.
