Cara McGlynn is an Associate in our Technology, Intellectual Property and Media team specialising in contentious intellectual property.

Cara has expertise in all areas of contentious intellectual property including trade marks, patents, copyright, confidential information and designs. Cara has acted for a range of clients across a wide variety of sectors. Cara adopts a collaborative and friendly, commercially focused approach tailored to clients’ objectives and priorities. Cara has experience of managing and running complex IP litigation, the majority of which takes place in the Court of Session (Scotland’s Supreme Court).

Relevant experience

  • A number of Scotch Whisky brands in relation to trade mark infringement, passing off and breach of the Scotch Whisky Regulations.
  • A major licensing society on infringement and enforcement proceedings in Scotland. Such work has included raising copyright infringement actions in the Court of Session, including a petition and complaint for breach of interdict.
  • Various global and Scottish-based companies recovering infringing domain names through the WIPO domain name dispute resolution procedure. 
  • A major oil and gas provider in a patent entitlement and infringement claim relating to offshore technology.
