Chris is a Senior Associate in the firm’s Construction and Engineering team, specialising in non-contentious construction matters. Chris provides advice to both private and public sector clients, as well as contractors, in relation to high value and complex projects across a broad range of sectors, including office developments, student accommodation, logistic parks, energy and infrastructure projects, hospitals, hotels and leisure, retail, education and community infrastructure, residential and urban regeneration.

Chris advises on all major forms of industry standard contracts (including JCT, NEC, MF/1) and drafts and negotiates bespoke construction and engineering contracts, performance security, professional appointments, and other related documents. Chris also advises on the construction aspects of development agreements, agreements for lease, facility agreements, and other transactional documents. 

Relevant experience

  • The Mayfield Partnership on the estimated 10-year, GBP 1.4bn regeneration of a 26-acre site near and including the old Mayfield railway terminal and depot / warehouses near Manchester Piccadilly Station in Manchester city centre. The development includes new housing, office, retail and leisure space, as well as the procurement of infrastructure works and a new city park on the banks of the river.
  • Earls Court Partnership on all construction aspects for ECPL in relation to the major redevelopment of the Earls Court Opportunity Area. ECPL is a JV between Delancey, APG and Transport for London that comprises circa 40 acres of land that formerly housed the Earls Court Exhibition centres and is London’s largest cleared Zone 1 development site to be redeveloped for commercial use, residential (including affordable and build to rent), and leisure.
  • UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) (formerly Public Health England) on the design and construction of their new headquarters and science campus at Harlow, Essex.
  • Castleforge Partners and Gamuda on the redevelopment of 75 London Wall (the former Deutsche Bank headquarters) in the City of London as a new best-in-class, 450,000 sq. ft office development with additional storeys, retained façade, and public realm upgrades.
