Chris is a Senior Associate in the CMS Insurance and Reinsurance Group, based in London and a member of the firm’s cybersecurity team. Prior to joining CMS, Chris led the UK Cyber team of an international loss adjusting company. Chris' practice at CMS is focussed on providing legal advice and incident response management and support to businesses and organisations impacted by Cyber incidents and data breaches including advising on compliance with relevant legal and regulatory obligations and defending claims that may arise. Chris also regularly advises the insurance market on coverage and monitoring issues arising from Cyber incidents. 

Chris’ broader practice and experience includes advising on coverage matters and claims involving Financial Institutions, Warranty & Indemnity, Directors & Officers and other professionals with a focus on the Technology sector.

Relevant experience

  • Businesses, charities and NGOs regarding the management of cyber incidents and associated regulatory and legal issues including cross-border incidents requiring coordination of international law firms and specialist vendors.
  • Notifications to data protection regulators and affected data subjects, including assisting with the preparation of the relevant notification documents and responding to regulatory investigations.
  • Insurers and Reinsurers in connection with insurance claims affecting UK and international financial institutions and commercial entities including those arising from theft, dishonesty of employees and third-party fraud. 
  • The insurance market on coverage issues arising across Cyber, Tech E&O, Warranty & Indemnity and Financial Institutions insurance policies.
