Doug is a partner in CMS' Corporate group and is the team leader for our Energy & Infrastructure transactions team.

Doug has been focused on advising a range of clients in the energy and infrastructure sectors for over 25 years.  Doug has advised on numerous transactions and joint ventures in respect of energy (e.g. offshore wind, onshore wind, solar, EV charging, energy storage, demand side response, gas transmission and storage, gas distribution, electricity distribution, gas peakers, smart metering, IGTs and water) and infrastructure (e.g. transport, fibre networks, data centres, waste, water, streetlighting, aviation and defence).

Doug is part of the CMS Energy & Infrastructure practice, which has more than 450 lawyers working across 75 offices in 57 countries.  Sample transactions:

  • SSE on the GBP 1.2bn sale of a 33.3% stake in SGN to OTPP and Brookfield and the GBP 621m sale of a 16.7% stake to ADIA.
  • Railpen on the acquisition of a 50% shareholding in energy and infrastructure developer AGR Power and on a joint venture to co-develop the 66MW Barachander onshore wind project.
  • Macquarie Asset Management and BCI on acquiring a 60% stake in National Grid’s UK gas transmission and metering business for an implied enterprise value of GBP 9.6bn.
