Haris is an Associate in our Technology, Media and Telecommunications team based in Glasgow. Haris qualified as a solicitor in October 2022 and joined the team shortly after. Haris is also admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales after successfully completing the Solicitor Qualifying Examination (SQE) in 2023. He has a keen interest in commercial contracts, intellectual property (including branding and sponsorship licensing), data protection, IT and outsourcing.

He has been involved in advising on a variety of commercial contracts across the technology, financial and life sciences sectors. Haris has worked with an extensive range of clients including academic institutions, public sector organisations, technology start-ups and large private and public companies. He also regularly advises clients on data protection and intellectual property matters.

Haris is also regularly involved in pro bono work and volunteering including volunteering at MCR Pathways and Social Bite.

Relevant experience

  • NHS on its critical SWAN network services contract and advising on advising on ancillary commercial contracts and contract queries. This was the largest public sector ICT contract in Scotland and remains the network services “backbone” for the Scottish public sector. advising on ancillary commercial contracts and contract queries.
  • Leading UK universities on various commercial contracts including research contracts, confidentiality agreements, and data sharing agreements. Advising and negotiating on IP ownership rights and licensing terms. 
  • A large-scale investment business, as a member of a commercial retainer, regularly reviewing and negotiating commercial terms and conditions, licensing agreements, professional services agreements with a wide range of professional service providers.
