Helen Achilleos is a senior construction lawyer who advises both private and public sector clients as well as contractors in relation to high value and complex projects across a broad range of sectors, including mixed use regeneration, transport, housing, education and energy. 

Helen advises on a range of construction and engineering contracts (including contracts based on NEC4, JCT, IChemE, FIDIC, ICC and bespoke forms of contract), framework agreements and alliancing agreements.

She also has international experience and has led infrastructure projects where both clients and counterparties are based in multiple jurisdictions. She has assisted clients through the tendering process for construction projects, contract negotiations and post-completion matters and so has experience of advising clients through the lifecycle of a project.

  • A consortium of international contractors in relation to the EPC contract for the USD 2bn refurbishment of a nuclear power plant in Europe.
  • An overseas government in relation to the EPC contracts for the design and construction of a new build nuclear plant.
  • Overseas government in relation to a USD 200m public private partnership for the construction of a new cruise berthing facility at ones of its ports. 
  • Manchester Airport Group in relation to the construction documents for the GBP 800m development of Airport City.
  • Local authority in relation to a 20-year GBP 2bn development joint venture with a private developer (with the primary focus of the joint venture being on housing regeneration). 
  • An employer in relation to a GBP 170m project for the design, construction and commissioning of a fluidised bed gasification facility (energy from waste project). 
  • Utilities company in relation to a GBP 1.5bn alliance agreement in relation to its asset management plan programme for capital investment over a 5 year period.
  • A seller in relation to the sale of a mixed-use office and light industrial business park for GBP 245m.
