Irfaan is a Partner in the Real Estate department and has over 14 years’ experience acting for real estate funds, institutions, developers and corporate occupiers across a broad range of real estate transactions. 

He specialises in real estate investment and development work as well as acting on complex data centre deals (acting for one of the biggest hyperscalers in the sector) and he has also done a lot of work for a variety of corporate and retail occupiers.

His other experience includes the acquisition and disposal of high value mixed use schemes, pre letting and forward funding agreements on various industrial developments, office buildings as well as retail parks and shopping centres as well as the entry into of Promotion Agreements in the context of large scale residential developments.

Relevant experience

  • HBR Reavis in relation to their pre-letting, asset management and then corporate disposal of Worship Square; an award winning Grade A office building in the heart of the City of London for c.GBP 185m.
  • HB Reavis in relation to the over station development known as Bloom Clerkenwell (50 Cowcross Street) above Farringdon Crossrail Station – including in respect of the neighbourly matters, TFL specific workstreams, construction, financing and pre-letting aspects of this project.
  • Hammerson PLC on a wide range of investment, disposal and asset management matters including the GBP 335m acquisition of Grand Central Shopping Centre in Birmingham – a c.435,000 shopping centre which forms part of the functioning railway station and sits in the heart of Birmingham and also the disposal of Elliott's Field Retail Park, Rugby and The Orchard Centre, Didcot as part of a portfolio sale of seven retail parks to Brookfield for GBP 330m.
  • European Land & Property Limited on their ongoing mixed-use development at Merchant Square, Paddington (located next to Paddington Station), including a number on several high value pre-lets on both the office and retail elements of the scheme.
  • A JV between BT Pension Scheme and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board on the office and retail lettings at the Southbank Central development (c. 264,000 square feet of commercial space) and on the subsequent disposal of this asset for c. GBP 255m.
  • A multinational technology retailer in the UK on their operational / logistics portfolio - including work on proposed developments, pre-lettings of distribution centres, "last mile" centres and fulfilment centres.
  • Deloitte LLP, a major corporate occupier across their portfolio - including on the regear of c. 150,000 square feet in their headquarters at 66 Shoe Lane in Q1 2021.
