Josh is a Senior Associate in the Construction and Engineering team with experience acting for public and private sector clients on major building and infrastructure projects and property transactions in the UK and Australia. Josh assists clients with all aspects of construction projects from due diligence to contract procurement, negotiation, documentation, contract compliance, regulatory compliance and administration.

Josh provides construction advice to his colleagues in the firm’s Infrastructure, Energy and Commercial Real Estate sector groups, conducts construction due diligence for the firm’s corporate clients, acts on project and development finances and provides asset management advice for property development portfolios.

Josh is experienced in advising on all major forms of industry standard contracts. He has experience in negotiating and advising on construction contracts and professional appointments on a wide range of construction matters, including office and urban developments, residential developments, logistics parks, data centres, build-to-rent developments and student accommodation.

Relevant experience

  • Earls Court on the construction aspects for the delivery of the Earls Court redevelopment project, including advising on the master planning and delivery phase, drafting building contracts, demolition contracts, site investigation contracts, consultant appointments, master planning appointments, non-disclosure agreements, third party rights and collateral warranties. 
  • The Crown Estate in respect of the development of sites at Wootton, Wetstwick Row and Knutsford, with project objectives including net zero carbon development and low carbon infrastructure.
  • One of the world’s largest logistics companies on the construction elements of their UK logistics, sortation and data centres including preparing and advising on construction contracts and agreement for lease obligations
  • On the construction elements of GSA’s student accommodation portfolio, including construction due diligence, asset purchases and remediation works contracts, including in respect of fire safety and remediation.
  • Castleforge Partners in negotiating construction contracts for their office property portfolio, including responsibility for contract tendering, procurement and administration and advice on ongoing legal obligations.
  • A forward funder in relation to design and construction of a build to rent project at Water Lane, Leeds comprising 360 residential dwellings, including advising on all forms of construction contracts and development funding agreements used for the project; and on further developments of the same scale at Birmingham and at Poplar.
  • Deloitte in negotiating construction contracts and providing asset management support for Deloitte’s UK offices.
  • Hertshten Properties Limited on the redevelopment of a mixed-use office tower at 85 Gracechurch Street, London, to partially demolish the existing  1935 building and construct a new 32-storey building plus basement levels.
  • Construction due diligence for Allianz on its joint venture with Aviva for the major redevelopment of 1 Liverpool Street and 101 Moorgate, including advising on contract interfaces and over-station development issues.
  • NeuConnect in negotiating consultant appointments and collateral warranties for the delivery of the NeuConnect Interconnector Project, the proposed £1.4 billion HVDC submarine power cable between England and Germany.
