Kaela is an Associate in our Technology, Intellectual Property and Media team based in Glasgow.

Kaela has experience advising on contentious intellectual property matters including trade marks, copyright, patents, designs and confidential information. Kaela also regularly advises on a variety of commercial contracts across the life sciences, technology and food and drink sectors.

Relevant experience

  • Leading UK academic institutions on a range of commercial contracts including research contracts, collaboration agreements, confidentiality agreements, and data sharing agreements. Advising and negotiating on IP ownership rights and licensing terms. 
  • A major oil and gas provider in a patent entitlement and infringement claim brought by a former employee in connection with offshore technology.  
  • A major broadcaster on its copyright enforcement strategy for its exclusive content. Such work has included raising a large number of copyright infringement actions in the Court of Session.
  • Key insurance companies on the coverage position for intellectual property related insurance claims.  
  • A prominent financial services company on Company Names Tribunal proceedings.
  • Innovative software companies on software licensing terms, with a particular focus on AI related software.
  • A prominent audiobook provider on production and other related agreements.
