Kara Tompsett is a Senior Associate in the Contentious IP department where she advises on a variety of contentious and non-contentious soft intellectual property matters including trade mark and design clearance, filing advice, protection and enforcement.  She manages trade mark portfolios in the UK, EU and globally and she has worked on several disputes before the UK IPO and EUIPO.

Kara works with a broad range of clients ranging from individuals to start-up companies to multinational corporations and her clients span several divergent sectors including telecommunications, retail, real estate, media, fashion and finance.

Kara qualified as a Chartered Trade Mark Attorney in 2014 and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys.

  • Collating and drafting evidence for one of the UK’s largest telecommunications companies in high profile litigation and running numerous UK trade mark oppositions.
  • Conducting UK and EU trade mark clearance for several new brands for the world's largest technology company.
  • Conducting global clearance and preparing filing strategies a well-known British food delivery company and subsequently overseeing filings, prosecution and enforcement of trade marks.
