Karl is a senior associate in our London Corporate team, with over a decade of experience, specialising in private equity transactions and broader M&A. His practice focuses on representing private equity sponsors throughout the lifecycle of an investment from acquisition through to exit. 

Karl’s wider practice involves acting for institutional investors, large multi-national corporations and founders on all aspects of domestic and cross-border M&A transactions, investments and incentive arrangements particularly in the healthcare, energy, technology, and sports sectors.

Relevant experience

  • August Equity on its sale of Agilio Software, the UK’s largest provider of healthcare operations software, to Five Arrows and TA Associates. 
  • Queen’s Park Equity on its exit from Encore, one of the UK’s leading residential managing agent businesses, to Odevo a portfolio company of CVC and Fiedlio. This deal representing Queen’s Park Equity’s inaugural exit.   
  • Dunedin and management on the sale of EV Holdings, a leading global provider of vision-based diagnostics and analytics services for the oil and gas sector, to a joint venture between Enersol, Adnoc Drilling and Alpha Dhabi Holding. 
  • Breal Capital (a privately owned family office) on the sale of Barclay & Mathieson, one of the UK’s largest independent steel distribution and metal service providers, to Marubeni Itochu Steel Inc.
  • August Equity on its investments into (i) Clarity Informatics, a software provider to the primary care sector; (ii) Intershift Planning, Netherlands’ leading provider of scheduling software for GPs; and (iii) Caragon, an automated data solutions supplier operating from Ireland.  
  • Queen’s Park Equity on its investments into (i) Blue Ribbon, a specialist provider of Adult Residential Care and Supported Living Services; (iii) Republic M!, a specialist provider of outsourced commercialisation services to the pharmaceutical industry; and (iv) Psychiatry UK, the UK’s leading provider of digital psychiatry services.
  • Octopus Energy in relation to a 20% investment in the company by Origin Energy, Australia’s leading energy company.
  • Octopus Energy on the USD 250m investment by existing shareholders and new shareholder, Tokyo Gas and the establishment of a Japanese utility joint venture between Octopus Energy and Tokyo Gas.
