Kate is an experienced English law qualified Associate in CMS' UK Restructuring & Insolvency team. Kate's practice is in domestic and cross-border corporate restructurings, insolvencies, distressed asset sales, debt sales and loan-to-own strategies, as well as contentious matters, including personal bankruptcy claims.

Kate's experience spans numerous sectors, including energy, real estate, retail, consumer credit, finance, manufacturing and infrastructure. Kate has extensive experience advising, amongst others, financial institutions, funds, insolvency practitioners, corporates, creditors and debtors across all stages of financial distress, from early restructuring to formal insolvency.

Kate was recognised on the 2025 Pro Bono Recognition List of England & Wales for her pro bono contributions. Kate is also a member of the International Women's Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC). 

Relevant experience

Notable matters worked on prior to joining CMS:

  •  Administrators on a successful £700m sale of the UK's largest operational solar power portfolio, including a complex pre-sale restructuring involving asset-hive downs and regularising of bonds.
  • The board of directors of a UK aerospace manufacturer on a proposed bridge financing and working with insolvency practitioners on contingency planning and its subsequent entry into administration.
  • A project company client in the infrastructure and transport sector on a complex and longstanding private finance initiative restructuring, including intricate interim financing documentation and intercreditor arrangements.
  • A global lender on cross-border enforcement and restructuring options in respect of various borrowers in the real estate sector, documenting standstills and negotiating financing arrangements.
  • Role as independent assessor to the Court in relation to a scheme of arrangement proposed by a leading UK alternative credit provider, providing the Court with a first of its kind report and creating precedent in this area.
