Laura is a senior data protection law specialist. She advises clients in all sectors on a full range of privacy matters. Laura is efficient in delivering practical and accessible advice on all aspects of UK data protection law and practice, ranging from providing advice on new products and technologies, to assisting clients with data transfers, data protection roles, policies, notices and records. Laura joined CMS in 2008 as a trainee, and has accumulated over 15 years’ experience working in both consultant and employee roles. 

Relevant experience

  • A worldwide technology business in relation to a comprehensive range of data protection considerations arising in connection with its phased launch of an innovative generative AI product in the UK and internationally, including coordinating related multi-jurisdictional advice from numerous jurisdictions across the EU and beyond.
  • A leading payments provider in relation to various UK data protection law matters, including on the requirements of call interception laws, the negotiation of DPAs and reseller agreements, its data framework and various internal briefing documents, and its personal data breach notification procedures in the event of a cross-border data breach impacting on multiple jurisdictions.
  • A high-profile UK entity in relation to data protection considerations arising in respect of its international operations within the media sector, including related to its data sharing and processing arrangements with an entertainment and digital services provider, and a payment services provider.
  • A multinational organisation in respect of its introduction of a biometric identification solution (incorporating facial recognition technology) for measuring employee attendance, including liaising with the UK data protection regulator.
