Laurel O'Dell is a senior associate in the Commercial Media Team and has particular experience in the film and television sector, acting for production companies, broadcasters, distributors, platforms and financiers as well as publishers and advertisers. 
Laurel advises clients on a range of matters including in relation to the development, production, distribution and exploitation of audiovisual content, rights related issues, talent deals, production company exits and film and television production financing. Laurel also undertakes transactional work alongside the corporate media team on media sector M&A, including a number of recent production company acquisitions. 

Laurel has spent time on secondment at Paramount.

  • Paramount and Comcast on a number of aspects (including content licensing and media due diligence) relating to their partnership to launch the new subscription video on demand streaming service, SkyShowtime.
  • A major UK publisher on its talent deal relating to the launch of their new television channel.
  • A major broadcaster on the launch of its new industry leading product in the UK and Europe.
  • Paramount on the deal for Channel 5 to become a member of Digital UK and the related purchase by Digital UK of Freesat.
  • All3Media on its acquisition of leading natural history producer Silverback Films. 
  • Fremantle on a number of production company acquisitions.
  • Cameron Mackintosh on the international licensing of its well-known shows.
  • A leading pharmaceutical business on its global procurement of creative advertising services.
