Lloyd is a partner in the Energy, Projects and Construction Team and is based in Australia.

Lloyd is an experienced projects, construction and transactional energy and infrastructure specialist, having advised on market-leading projects across Australia, Africa and the Indo-Pacific regions in the past 24 years. He presently advises sponsors, developers, contractors, engineers, financiers and investors across a broad range of energy-related and mining infrastructure projects, with a particular focus on clean and renewable energy development, the incremental hybridisation of energy systems and the transition toward hydrogen, green power and medium and long-term energy storage solutions across various industries, including mining and infrastructure.

 Lloyd’s expertise extends to providing strategic and commercial advice and guidance in relation to all aspects of the clean energy sector and includes advising on onshore wind, solar, offshore wind, BESS, hydrogen, and nuclear development and construction projects, energy offtake agreements (PPAs), retail energy tolling agreements, procurement and joint ventures, EPCs, O&Ms, split scope development projects and general commercial arrangements.

 Lloyd also has significant transactional M&A experience in the energy, mining and industrials sectors, having acted on key strategic transactions for multinational mining and industrials clients.

 Lloyd is recognised as a stand-out lawyer and “Leading Lawyer” in the infrastructure area with the independently-rated “Acritas Star” listing, and listed as a “Best Lawyer”.

  • One of Australia’s largest energy retailers on creating a bespoke Community BESS Tolling Agreement.
  • A diversified resources company on the development of its hybrid plant to assist with the powering of its graphite operation located including in relation to the construction, installation, commissioning and 10-year operation of a solar and BESS hybrid power plant at the mine.
  • The majority shareholder in the sale of all of its interests in its Australian clean energy portfolio to Igneo
  • Vast Energy Limited on its joint venture in a solar storage project near Port Augusta in South Australia, including advising on its innovative concentrated solar power storage technology, the development of a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) of up to 140 MW, a 70MW solar photo-voltaic array and a Thermal Energy Storage System pilot.
  • Jennmar Australia on its acquisition of all of the interests in Australian Steel and Wire
  • a large Spanish development company on construction aspects relating to a new 900km electricity transmission line for TransGrid that will connect the South Australia and New South Wales districts of the National Electricity Market in Australia.
  • An energy infrastructure fund in relation to construction of their solar and wind farm portfolio.
  • A large investment fund in relation to the acquisition, development and commercialisation of various clean energy generation and hybrid storage projects.
  • A solar development company in relation to battery energy offtake arrangements with Horizon Power and in relation to the feasibility and development of a solar farm and BESS hybrid solution in conjunction with an Aboriginal corporation in Western Australia, including advising on the relevant EPC and O&M terms.
  • A large investment fund on its acquisition of a majority interest in a Solar Portfolio, comprising 16 operational solar sites in Victoria with exclusive rights to develop a further 25 solar projects across NSW.
