Madison has recently qualified as an Associate in the Infrastructure, Construction and Energy Disputes team in our Aberdeen office, having completed her traineeship at CMS. She obtained a range of experience throughout her traineeship, particularly in the offshore oil and gas industry. This included a six month secondment to an energy operator, in which she gained valuable commercial experience. 

Madison assists and advises on a range of commercial disputes in the oil and gas industry, including oil & gas industry regulatory matters. Madison also engages in extra curricular roles within CMS. She is a member of the CMS Women’s Network and is an editor of an internal Scotland wide newsletter, alongside taking part in fundraising efforts for CMS’ charity partners.

Relevant experience

  • Equinor as an interested party in judicial review proceedings brought in the Court of Session (Scotland) by environmental campaigners in respect of the Rosebank development (Petition by Greenpeace & others [2025] CSOH 10).
  • An oil and gas client on advice in relation to decommissioning obligations.
  • An energy client on a dispute involving local businessmen continuing to carry out business in an area that work was being carried out in imminently. 
  • A global oil and gas client in relation to NSTA investigations and enforcement actions.

Education

  • 2023 – Diploma in Professional Legal Practice, University of Aberdeen, Aberdeen.
  • 2022 – LLB with English Law, University of Aberdeen, Aberdeen.
