Martin is part of our large Technology and Sourcing team, where he advises on IT outsourcing agreements, software licensing, telecoms and ICT infrastructure and other commercial contracts for public, technology, commercial and financial sector clients. He works for clients across a range of sectors on critical IT contracts, including the NHS, SSE, Phoenix Group, City of Edinburgh Council, Northern Ireland Water, NatWest/ RBS, Barclays, HSBC and Lloyds Banking Group. 

Martin has been rated by Chambers as an associate to watch for several years.

Relevant experience

  • Advising one of the UK’s largest gas network distributor on the procurement of new network and telecommunications services contract; 
  • Advising the NHS on its critical SWAN network services contract. This was the largest public sector ICT contract in Scotland and remains the network services “backbone” for the Scottish public sector; 
  • Advising a Big Five UK bank on various contracts (including for travel and mobile insurance provision and contingent worker outsourcing contracts);
  • Advising several national water authorities in relation to the securing of transitional services (including data and telephony network capability) as part of the acquisition/ handback of national infrastructure assets;
  • Acting in relation to the procurement of public WiFi, store card arrangements and car parking services at a new flagship shopping centre development;
  • Acting for UK high street bank on its critical network infrastructure services contract, specifically in relation to mobile, voice and network data services.
