Michael is an experienced Senior Associate in the Corporate Transactions team based in Glasgow. Having trained and practiced for approximately six years at an international law firm, Michael joined CMS in 2022. 

Michael has experience advising on a broad range of corporate matters and transactions, including acquisitions, disposals, private equity and venture capital investments, reorganisations and corporate governance, for both private and public companies operating in the UK and internationally.  His focus as a transactional lawyer is to protect the interests of CMS clients while efficiently and effectively delivering strategic transactions on their behalf. 

Relevant experience

  • Cicor Technologies Ltd (portfolio company of One Equity Partners) on its acquisition of STS Defence, and the carve out acquisition of TT Electronics IoT Solutions from TT Electronics.
  • Trojan Energy, in respect of its GBP 26m investment, led by Scottish National Investment Bank with investment from BGF. 
  • J. & D. Wilkie, on its milestone acquisition of Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc, to establish a new headquarters for the business and position it as a leader in sustainable and advanced textiles manufacturing space. 
  • Neuranics on its USD 8m Seed investment in 2025, led by Blackfinch Ventures with investment from Par Equity, Archangels, Old College Capital and the University of Glasgow and its GBP 2m pre-Seed investment in 2023.  
  • M&G and Morgan Stanley, on their disposal of the St. Enoch Centre shopping centre, in Glasgow. 
  • Nuveen on the sale of the Omni shopping centre, in Edinburgh.
  • First Integrated Solutions, on its acquisitions of North Sea Compactors, Tusk Lifting and Andrews Hydrographics, in 2023, 2024 and 2025 respectively. 
  • Scottish Enterprise (Scottish Investment Bank), in relation to circa 20 investments and follow-on investments into Scottish companies made from its co-investment fund across a wide range of sectors.  Recent examples of investments that Michael has advised on include in Trademylux, ITZA Media, Duradiamond Software and ReVentas.
  • Synova Capital, in relation to the management buyout of Charnwood Molecular. 
  • H2 Equity Partners, on its acquisition of and investment into Dales Marine Services.
