Mike is a Consultant in the Financial Services Group and Crypto and Digital Assets Group at CMS London, specialising in FinTech and Digital Assets regulation, in relation to which he has authored guides for numerous leading international legal publications, including ICLG, Legal 500, Lexology and Sweet & Maxwell.

This includes co-authoring the central ‘Cryptoasset Regulation in the United Kingdom’ chapter of Sweet & Maxwell’s groundbreaking ‘Crypto and Digital Assets Law and Regulation’, the first edition of which was published in 2023.

Mike is also a guest lecturer on the ‘Digital Assets for Regulators’ programme provided by the Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance, part of the University of Cambridge’s Judge Business School.

Prior to joining CMS, Mike was the Head of Legal (Europe & CIS) at a leading international digital assets exchange, where he spearheaded the navigation of the regulatory challenges surrounding crypto and helped the business to secure regulatory approvals in multiple jurisdictions.

Before that he spent 12 years at a magic circle law firm, working across its London and Hong Kong offices, where he had a wide-ranging practice covering the full spectrum of regulatory, financing and corporate/commercial work, with a particular focus on financial regulation and FinTech.

His clients include regulators, financial market infrastructure operators, traditional and challenger banks, payment and electronic money institutions, other financial institutions and intermediaries, technology service providers, crypto and digital assets businesses, and other emerging technology businesses.

Mike is qualified in both England & Wales and Hong Kong, and regularly advises businesses on their global regulatory strategy.
