Rachel has been with the firm since 2018.  She is part of our Technology, Sourcing, IP and Commercial Contracts team, with a focus on general commercial contracts, outsourcing agreements, software agreements, and the emerging blockchain, cryptocurrency and metaverse industries.

In particular, Rachel regularly advises on software and outsourcing contracts for clients in the financial services sector, both on the customer side (supporting large financial institutions) and on the supplier side (supporting fintech companies, particularly in the emerging blockchain and cryptocurrency industries).  

Client feedback has included remarks on Rachel’s “speed, detail-orientation, knowledge, helpful approach” and her ability “to keep very calm despite the pressure & get everyone back on track through evidence and logic”.

Rachel is Scottish and English law qualified. 

Relevant experience

  • Clients in the financial services sector on SaaS Agreements and Outsourcing Agreements including large banks and insurers.
  • Clients in the financial services sector on various competitive Supplier RFP processes for outsourcing from the initial issue of drafts through to the reviewing of mark-ups from Suppliers and scoring of responses.  
  • Various blockchain technology companies on a number of contracts including a software development contract for the provision of a metaverse software platform, a tokenisation services agreement and various template customer contracts for both B2B and B2C arrangements.
  • A data centre provider on a contract for the provision of co-location services.
  • A large biotechnology company on its template harmonisation and refresh project, including working with stakeholders from various business units to prepare tailored drafts.  
  • Various clients on intellectual property matters in a contractual context including drafting and reviewing IP licences (particularly for University clients), research contracts and collaboration Agreements.
  • A University client since 2020 as a Contract Manager as part of a team providing back-office support to the in-house research contracts time on a wide range of research contracts.

  • 2023 – Solicitors Regulation Authority Solicitors Qualifying Examination (i.e., English law qualification).
  • 2017 – Diploma in Professional Legal Practice, University of Aberdeen, Aberdeen.
  • 2012 – LLB (Hons) Law, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow.
