(Chartered Trade Mark Attorney)

Languages
  • English

Sam is a Chartered Trade Mark Attorney in the IP department, assisting multinational, SME and individual brand owners in identifying potential new brands, securing their registration, enforcing those registrations against third parties, and preparing contractual documents to exploit those rights.

A member of the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys since December 2007, Sam's pragmatic and considered approach has proved favourable with his clients, while his passion for the subject won him the Hershel Smith Scholarship Award whilst studying Intellectual Property Law at Queen Mary University (MSc). Sam joined CMS Legacy firm Olswang LLP in November 2011, and qualified as a Chartered Trade Mark Attorney in August 2014.

Sam chiefly advises an international restaurant chain, a major defence and security company and a global U.S. tech giant in relation to all aspects of trade mark rights; selection, strategic filing, portfolio management, opposition and enforcement. In particular, he’s responsible for overseeing prosecution, exploitation and contentious trade mark matters in the UK and the European Union, as well as co-ordinating international prosecution programmes and managing other supporting firms across the globe. The day-to-day ‘point person’ for many clients, Sam is a personable, solutions-orientated ‘safe pair of hands’, able to manage a portfolio, its budget and the client-communication channel efficiently.
