A Partner since 2023, Tom has been recognised through client feedback as a Thomson Reuters Stand-out Lawyer, a Next Generation Partner in Financial Services and an "expert in UK and EU regulatory matters" (Legal 500).
Tom specialises in financial services and markets law and covers all major areas of regulatory compliance and prudential regulation affecting investment firms, banks, fund managers, life insurers and other financial market participants. Tom regularly advises on M&A, securities, derivatives, and complex commercial transactions in the regulated sector. He also has experience advising regulated and unregulated businesses in various sectors on the legal and regulatory issues arising out of commodities and energy trading.
Tom has spent time on secondment to Morgan Stanley, primarily supporting the Sales and Trading business, and at MetLife, supporting a complex global restructuring. He is an active participant in the industry, as a member of the Financial Markets Law Committee's Banking, Infrastructure and Fintech Scoping Forums and through his contributions to various trade body working groups, including UK Finance, CryptoUK and TISA.
Tom is well known in the retail platforms and investment sector for his work on fractional share trading since 2017. Tom also has an interest in AI, digital assets and other emerging technologies and their adoption in both law firms and the financial services industry more broadly.
