The Media Act 2024 lifts the long-standing publisher-broadcaster restriction against Channel 4, which means that, for the first time in its history, Channel 4 can establish an in-house production company and produce its own content.

Channel 4 also has a new legal duty to consider its future sustainability alongside the delivery of its public service remit.
