On Point: Leadership in Turbulent Times

What does good leadership look like when uncertainty has become the norm?

That was the question at the heart of our fourth annual CMS Scotland On Point Business Conference, which brought together clients, contacts and business leaders at the EICC in Edinburgh to explore Leadership in Turbulent Times.

From geopolitics and AI to the realities of leading through change, our speakers shared their perspectives on the challenges facing leaders today and what businesses can do to navigate what comes next.

Expertly hosted by Kirsty Wark, the conference brought together a diverse line-up of speakers, each bringing a different perspective on leadership and the forces shaping the business environment.

Our keynote speaker, Rory Stewart, Professor in the Practice of International Relations at the London School of Economics, former Conservative Cabinet Minister and diplomat, best-selling author and Co-Host of The Rest is Politics, shared his perspective on leadership in an increasingly uncertain world.

• Andrew McDougall, Managing Director, Group Head of Geopolitical Risk at Barclays, explored the complex and ever-changing geopolitical risks facing businesses.
• Technology expert Dr Stephanie Hare, co-presenter of the BBC's AI Decoded, returned to On Point to explore the challenges rapid technological change, and particularly AI, presents for today's leaders.
• And Phil Batty OBE, Chief Executive Officer at Glasgow 2026, shared his lessons and insights on leadership.
