The Media Act 2024 introduces significant reforms for public service broadcasting, including:
- a new “must offer, must carry” regime for PSB services, as well as a prominence regime requiring major connected TV platforms to prominently feature designated PSB on-demand services and public service content on their platforms;
- an updated PSB remit giving broadcasters greater flexibility in how they fulfil their public service obligations; and
- revised programming quota obligations.
