Set against the backdrop of the Government’s Future Regulatory Framework (FRF) review, the FCA has published a Discussion Paper (DP 23/2) which seeks a broad range of views on both the current UK regulatory framework for funds and asset managers, and on its ideas for modernising and simplifying the regime.

Recognising the role of technology in driving recent changes in the UK asset management industry, the FCA is looking to ensure regulation is supportive of innovation and future developments.

The FCA through this latest DP, which is open for stakeholder responses until 22 May 2023, hopes to understand the key areas for prioritisation.

We have reviewed the proposals and have prepared a summary including comments from CMS Partners and Associates, linked below.
