BoE: RTGS standards release
BoE has announced that it will delay what would have been the November 2026 RTGS standards release, including the messaging standards for CHAPS payments.
FCA: AI tools for personal investment research and financial decision-making in the UK market
FCA has highlighted research which found that adults aged between 18-40 were becoming more comfortable with using AI for help with investing. However, 44% mistakenly believe AI-generated financial information is regulated, 38% consider that it would be fine to make an investment decision based solely on the outputs of AI, and 32% wrongly believe that they would be able to get compensation from FSCS or FOS if AI advice went wrong.
HMT: New objective for BoE
The Government intends to give BoE a new responsibility to support innovation in payment systems and emerging forms of digital money, whilst continuing to prioritise financial stability. The secondary payments innovation objective will sit below BoE’s primary financial stability objective. BoE will report against this objective annually, as a means by which to track pace with technological change. The Government expects to implement this change through making amendments to the Financial Services and Markets Bill.
